Volunteering

Why be a volunteer?

Because volunteers make a difference and can change lives - plus, you meet new people, learn new skills, take on a challenge, have fun, and most importantly, make a difference.

Who are volunteers?

Volunteers come from all backgrounds. Volunteers are working people, students, non-working people, professionals, young people and retirees. Last year, 140 volunteers donated 11,064 hours of their time to SCCSS – the equivalent of more than six full-time positions!

What can you do as a volunteer?

There is something for everyone at Community Services. There are many ways to help others, including:

  • Home support services to seniors
  • Groups with children and babies
  • Groups supporting new parents
  • Community Services Thrift Store
  • Sunshine Coast Food Bank
  • Arrowhead Clubhouse
  • Seasonal projects
  • Fundraising/grant writing
  • Helping spread the word about Building Together - our affordable housing project and new community services hub

What is certain is that you are sure to find something right for you. You will feel rewarded and be valued. Volunteers make a real difference in the community and the lives of the people around them - and so can you!
